Pet Trusts

Have you ever thought about what will happen to your pet if you die or become incapacitated?  Will he or she be given love and attention?  A proper diet, exercise and play?  A clean and comfortable home?

Many pets end up homeless in a shelter as a result of their owner's death or incapacity. A Pet Trust is a legal arrangement which can provide for the care and maintenance of your pet in the event that you are unable to do so.   A Pawsitive Day Pet Sitting has a staff attorney who can work with you to create a Pet Trust which will provide you with peace of mind, and your pet with the necessities to allow for a full and comfortable life.

One of the most important factors in creating a Pet Trust is your ability to provide instructions regarding the care, feeding, home environment, exercise, daily routines, veterinary care and burial of your pet.  Unlike a will, which can take weeks to implement, a Pet Trust takes effect immediately, ensuring your pet's uninterrupted care and comfort.

There are two types of trusts:  (1) a testamentary trust that goes into effect upon your death; and (2) a living trust which is a revocable legal entity.  A living trust can be implemented if you are temporarily incapacitated due to illness or injury.
